Alpine 12th Ward Emergency Preparedness
January Theme - Organization
This month we want to get our Plan in order. Plan is the
glue that makes everything else work. A plan is crucial in Emergency situations
and gives us peace of mind, if ever needed. If someone may need to take over in
your absence, would you be organized for that? Let’s begin organizing an
Emergency Binder with everything in one place.
WHAT TO INCLUDE IN
YOUR EMERGENCY BINDER?
VITAL DOCUMENTS
• birth certificates
• passports
• immunization records
• CASH – keep a variety of small bills on hand
• copy of your will, living trust, power of attorney etc
• medical information including prescriptions
• military and church papers
• diplomas and transcripts
• marriage certificates
• adoption papers
• current pictures for family members
• pet records
• proof of citizenship
INSURANCE DOCUMENTS
• homeowners insurance policy
• auto insurance policy
• life insurance policy
• medical insurance policy
• pictures
and lists of all your personal belongings for insurance
FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS
•
copies of your credit cards front and back
•
bank statements
•
retirement/social
security statements
•
internet passwords
(banking, personal, work etc)
•
utility statements
•
work/tax documents that
would be difficult to replace
•
deeds to properties
•
titles to cars, boats
etc
•
warranty information
Please take one area each week in January and
attempt to gather and organize. Make plans to acquire those things you don’t
yet have. We will continue to add to this binder in other areas of Emergency
Preparedness, so be sure and purchase a large enough binder to fit everything
together. I suggest using page
protectors as sleeves for those items that could slide out. Suggestions: 2 ½” View
Binder with page protector sheets for storage, a set of 5-tab or 8-tab index
pages, and lots of enthusiasm! Use the above categories to preface each
section. We will be adding to our sections. As this material is very important,
valuable, and private, please find a safe, but accessible place to store
it. Happy New Year and let’s be
prepared!
